2-months ago members were reminded that they “must ensure the group ahead is clearly out of range before playing a shot, with shorter hitters encouraged to play first if it is safe for them to do so. Hitting up on the group in front is never acceptable for any reason and, as witnessed on the weekend, can have very serious ramifications”.
Unfortunately I am still receiving reports far too often of members being hit up on. Fortunately no one has been injured since the incident 2-months ago but given the frequency of reports it is a matter of when not if. Yes, from time to time a player will hit a shot far better than they would have anticipated and a ball may roll a few metres into the next group but balls shot be landing next to or bouncing past/through other groups on the same hole.
If you are in any doubt at all that a player or group is out of range – don’t hit.
