Note from the Lady Captain
At last night’s AGM, Jess Spencer voiced a concern to the Board about our Ladies Season Opener. Specifically, she asked “where did the $400 competition funds go?”
I would normally let disappointing and inaccurate comments like this “go through to the keeper”, however it was voiced at the AGM, so I feel the need to respond.
And I have heard a few “rumblings”, so here it goes.
- With over 80 players, paying $5 each, the Club template funds available for prizes calculated to just under $150. (The usual percentage of our comp fees were returned to support “Our Club”.)
- Our Ladies Committee wanted to add a more personal and fun element to our day. We therefore made the decision to each purchase and present a “Prize” rather than the usual allocation of funds going to wallet and Pro Shop accounts.
- As explained in my February Blog, “the allocated funds from our entry fees will be accessed by our Ladies committee, who will each purchase and present good score prizes down the line.”
- All your committee purchased or donated prizes, the total value of which exceeded the $150 prize pool funds. Some of the funds recouped from the available prize pool have been re-donated by the committee ladies to be used for future events.
- The thank you gifts presented to Dane and the two Matt’s were donated by me.
So, I hope this allays any concerns anyone had about us not accessing the available prize pool funds. Including Matt Sturmer’s generous 1st place “Shoe Prize”, more than $300 value in prizes were awarded on the day. Additionally, our Club provided the Eagle badges and funded the Eclectic Gross and Nett Grade Prizes. I have always found our club’s Admin to be very supportive.
So, cheers everyone and returning to our 2023 motto:
DON’T WORRY – our committee has the best interests of the Lady Members and Our Club in mind.
BE HAPPY – and enjoy your golf.
