Dear Members,
Following the weekends golf it is timely to remind everyone of the correct procedure for suspension, recommencement or abandonment of play on our golf course. On Saturday afternoon, there was much confusion when play was temporarily suspended. The reason for the suspension of play was that several greens were flooded after heavy downpours of rain were experienced. After some thirty minutes the siren sounded TWICE allowing play to recommence.
- When play is suspended there will be ONE continuous siren warning. Play must stop, ball marked and players proceed to a safe place.
- Once play is deemed safe to recommence the siren will be blown TWICE. Players can replace their ball and restart play.
- When the siren is sounded THREE times play is completely abandon and all players must stop play and return to the clubhouse.
If players are in any doubt they should phone the pro shop for any clarification.
Unfortunately the situation was not helped when the pro shop could not be reached, due to the fact our telephone system was not functioning as it should. I personally tried to reach the pro shop four times with no response.
As Captain I apologise for the incident and confusion but hope this article helps clear up the matter.
