Dear Members,

As you may be aware over the past four weeks we have been conducting membership checks during social play throughout the week.  This came about as a number of members informed us that they felt there were non-financial members on the course without paying guest fees.

Whilst conducting these checks we reinforced the need for all players to report to the Pro Shop prior to teeing off,  enforced the need for paid up members to display their yellow membership tags on their bags, and lastly ensured guests/non-financial members had paid guest fees.

A small group of Match committee and other volunteering members formed a roster and were warmly received by other members thanking us for undertaking this initiative.

The results of these actions identified a number of guests/non-financial members who were sent back to the Pro Shop to pay their fees, a host of financial members without yellow bag tags and a significant number of players not registering at the pro shop which is mandatory before teeing off, as stated on the signs at the 1st and 10th tees.

Registering at the Pro Shop allows staff to check dress standards and importantly be fully aware of who is on the course should an emergency situation arise.

It is our intention to continue to undertake random membership checks both early morning and afternoon social time slots. The surveillance camera’s overlooking the 1st and 10th tees are currently being upgraded to assist with this task.  Please ensure that you follow the club’s guidelines around social play to avoid any embarrassment or awkward conversations.

It should be noted that any member who knowingly invites guests/non-financial members and does not follow guidelines i.e. payment of guest player fees etc will face disciplinary action and may have their membership suspended as a result of these actions.

Finally I would like to thank those members who volunteered their time to conduct these checks which as I have said, were greatly appreciated by members of our club.

In summary

  1. All players must report to the pro shop prior to teeing off (not just one on behalf of a group)
  2. Have your membership tag on your bag
  3. Pay guest fees and attach a Guest pass to your bag during that round

Thank you once again for your support and happy golfing.
