Dear Members,
2024 Membership Invoices will be distributed in the week beginning Monday 4th December. If you do not receive them via email by the 8th December please check your junk email and/or contact the office as the email we have on file may not be correct – you can also check/update your email address on the tab to the right of this post.
Many members would be aware that the Club’s current fees are very competitive in the marketplace, despite an increase at the start of the year, and a return to charging a $990 nomination fee for male members over the age of 35, membership numbers continue to be strong and the Club is approaching its capacity for playing members.
As most members would understand, cost of living and inflationary pressures on many of the Club’s expenses will continue to increase costs in 2024. The current subscription fees would not adequately fund operations next year. Given this, the Club will be increasing these fees for 2024.
Mindful that these inflationary pressures (5.4% in the September quarter) will extend into many other areas for members, the Board has resolved to increase the basic charge by 6%, which is the amount necessary to meet budgetary requirements while allowing for expected annual membership attrition rates.
Members would also understand that while the Club has made solid profits over the previous three years, the profit has all been reinvested back into the golf course. This strategy has meant the Club did not need to borrow money to fund the Irrigation System and the first stages of the Greens Replacement Program. As a result, the cost of current loan repayments will continue to gradually decrease.
If you are considering transferring categories of membership for 2024 please contact the General Manager as soon as possible to discuss your options.
In setting the fees for 2024 the Board have made every effort to ensure that Melville Glades continues to offer all playing members, 7-day playing rights at the most competitive rates of any Private Club in the local area.
