The attached power point presentation was discussed with Members at a forum in September. It followed a previous forum in 2021, considerable work by the Board and the CRC and, a Board/CRC workshop.
The main aims of the proposed governance changes are to:
- Modernise the Club’s main committee structure.
- Give the Board a more strategic rather than operational focus.
- Better empower managers to control the Club’s day-to-day operations.
- Give managers more direct lines of reporting to the Board.
The principles underpinning the proposed changes are consistent with the strategic direction of Golf Australia and Golf WA. Many other Clubs have started similar change programs and are reporting successful outcomes.
While there will always be some reservations about changing long standing management structures, the Club’s governance structure needs to be enduring and not change with personalities.
The next Members’ Forum will be in February 2024.
