When will this heat end? Well done to those of you who have braved the weather over the last month and got out on the course for a round. Just in case you were wondering if I had ‘done a runner’ before the season even started, I have been in Tasmania for a couple of weeks doing a lap of the island in a motorhome and exploring my convict roots. Turns out the convict’s free settler father-in-law was the very ‘colourful character’! Fortunately, the family is now on the straight and narrow. The weather was sooo much cooler there!  That’s enough of my holiday and my dodgy relatives, now down to golf business.

Women’s Season Opener
The winter season isn’t too far off with our Women’s Season Opener 12 hole competition scheduled for Thursday 7th March. It will be an 8am shotgun start so we can all finish at a similar time. It’s a great day for the 9 hole and 18 hole fields to play as one and enjoy a lunch afterwards to open the winter season. Why don’t you mix up your playing group and take the opportunity to have a game with someone from the ‘other’ group that you don’t normally get to play with.  If for some reason you can’t play in the morning, come along and join us for lunch. There will be some special prizes and important information from both Sue and I about the upcoming year. I hope you will join your fellow members on this special day.

Note: For those who have mobility issues, that may prevent you from playing this competition due to the possibility of a long walk to and from a distant tee start, please contact me directly before bookings open and I will do my best to accommodate you on a tee closer to the clubhouse.

2024 Fixtures
The fixtures for the upcoming year have been finalised and getting ready to be published. You can have a sneak preview of the Women’s Fixtures on the locker room noticeboard. A couple of significant changes to note are:

  • 2024 Women’s Club Championships
The championship will be held in April this year to avoid clashing with the pennant’s season and to play the course in its peak condition and hopefully without the threat of inclement weather.
  • Matchplay Championship

This year will see for the first time the women’s matchplay championship will being alongside the men’s competition on Saturdays. It will be a fabulous opportunity for the weekend players and the weekday players to get together to contest a Gold Letter event.

That’s all for me for now. See you at the Season Opener.

Take care and be kind.
