Following a call for nominations several weeks ago I am pleased to be able to advise members that the Board have agreed to support the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation as the Club’s Charity for 2024.
Cure Brain Caner Foundation are the leading organisation for brain cancer research, advocacy and awareness in Australia. They are striving to rapidly increase rates of brain cancer survival and improve the quality of life for people living with the disease. According to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission the Foundation is heavily reliant upon donations and bequests with nearly 92% of their income from this source.
The Foundation was nominated by members Wayne and Sam Cannell, whose son Luke passed earlier this year from Brain Cancer. Luke passed at the age of 27 after a 4-year battle with the illness.
The main charity event for the year is a mixed golf event on Friday 6th September (more details to follow) however more opportunities to support the charity will be afforded to members who may not be able to attend on the day.
I would also like to thank all those other members who provided nominations – we received numerous nominations for other worthy charities and while we can only support one in 2024 those who were nominated will be considered later in the year when we look to announce the Club’s charity to support for 2025.
