Dear Members,
With membership renewals nearly upon us we must advise you of some recently approved changes to social play at Melville Glades. These changes will take effect from January 1, 2025.
As many of you may know, social play is currently available before the competition field on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It is also available after the competition fields each day of the week. Members also can play socially within the competition fields on a Friday or Sunday.
The availability of social play has been something that has been monitored and reviewed by committees for some time now and a number of factors have been considered before making any recommendations. These factors include, member and staff safety, impact on competition fields, daily course preparation and of course the balance between social and competition golf.
After assessment of all the above factors the Board approved the following changes to social play to be effective from January 1, 2025:
- Social play before competitions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays will be permitted from 6am (September to February) and 6.30am (March to August). There is no access to the course prior to this time. There will be timesheets created for morning social play and it will be mandatory to book in to this timesheet. Timesheets will open 6 days in advance at 7pm for all members. Course staff directions on which tee to tee off from will need to be followed. Any guests must have arranged to pay the appropriate fees prior to teeing off even if this means arranging the day before.
- Social play within competition fields on a Friday and Sunday will be limited to within the Friday AM field and the Sunday PM field only. The Friday PM and Sunday AM fields it will be compulsory to play within the competition. Within the Friday AM and Sunday PM fields members will be asked to select 9 or 18 holes when booking. If you intend to play socially at that time please select the 9 hole option. This will produce a little ‘9’ symbol on your booking which will let other members know you intend to play socially. You will still be able to play 18 holes socially if you choose to – you are notifying fellow members you may not be playing within the competition field that day.
All social players must continue to check in before play with the Pro Shop during opening hours. It is expected that social players comply with the required course etiquette (repairing pitch marks and divots, raking bunkers and dress standards) and Club rules the same as any other time on course. Should you have any questions about how these changes to social play may impact on your individual use of the course please do not hesitate to contact the General Manager of Golf Operations Manager in the office.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with these changes.
