Following on from the change to the preferred lie, members will notice that the course staff have run the root pruning machine close to the tree line to help stop tree roots from impinging in the first cut of rough and eventually the fairways. If you find your ball lying on one of the cut lines a Temporary Local Rule has been introduced to allow you to take relief. The cut lines have been deemed to be an ‘Abnormal Course Condition’ so Rule 16.1b applies. This means you can lift and drop your ball within one club length of the nearest point of relief, no nearer the hole. Please note that interference does not exist if the cut line only affects your stance, so in that circumstance you must play the ball as it lies.
