More Progress!!!
Since the last Member Forum held on 26th August 2021 where Tyson Riley the Technical Irrigation Specialist from Living Turf and our Course Superintendent Dane McBride presented the plans, costs and benefits of our proposed new Irrigation System, a small group have been working in the background to help bring this project to fruition.
Today we have finalised the technical specification and tender documentation for the Supply and Installation of a new automatic Irrigation System at MGGC. The detailed documentation with comprehensive schematics has been sent to the three Rainbird accredited companies in Perth inviting them to submit a comprehensive quotation by the close of business Friday 29th October 2021. Sincere thanks to the members of the Working Group who have significantly contributed to the development of the said documentation. There is still a considerable amount of work yet to be done but so far, we are on track to meet our timeline.
The next step in the process is to fully assess the quotations by the second week of November and for the Board to approve a Special General Meeting on 25th November 2021 for the Members to endorse (or not) this major project for the Club.
Between now and the proposed SGM we will be providing members with refresher details of the project, a revisit of the costs and benefits, the duration, course, and player impact.
Our new 21-year Lease document from the City of Melville will now go before Council 19th November 2021.
Course renovation week is fast approaching, and members are encouraged to put a little bit of effort back into their Club by volunteering for a few hours on either Monday 25th October or Tuesday 26th October to help the Course staff out. It would be great to see a few new faces lend a helping hand. Please book in on the Volunteers timesheet.
During renovation week another great initiative will take place and I will not steal the Course Committees thunder and let you all read firsthand their well thought out communique which forms part of this e-News.
The final matter on this month’s agenda is the hard work completed by the CRC. Most of you who like to keep well informed will remember some preliminary discussions on changing the Club’s Board structure to align it with current trends of having some non-portfolio-based positions.
The CRC are keen to share their work thus far and we will hold a member Forum on Thursday 21st October to discuss with Members a couple of the models that have been developed.
Early next week we will post a PDF file on the website so that interested Members can read up on the work done to date and hopefully come to the Forum with some ideas around the content contained in the PDF. Member input is critical to this challenging project as we attempt to create a more flexible governance driven and less operational Board structure.
The Club’s finances remain on track YTD despite losing many competition days in the 3rd Quarter due to inclement weather.
Our Course Marshal program is slowly gaining momentum but a couple more names on the list to help would be welcomed. With more daylight hours available we are seeing more players coming out after 3.30p.m.and thus marshals staying out that bit later.
