SENIOR PENNANT PLAYERS WANTED – The sign-up sheet is up in the Ladies Locker room, and it is empty!!!!!
As mentioned in my last Blog, the first game is July 10th, so we need to get names/teams/shirts sorted. All the information is there, dates, venues, tee times etc, so please if you are interested, write your name on the sheet now and tick your available dates. Thanks everyone.
36 Hole Foursomes Championship. Congratulations again to our Gold Letter Gross Champions – Leanne McVey and Shirley Van Der Brugghen. With a Gross score of 172, they finished an impressive 12 shots ahead of the field. The Best Nett score and winners of the Tea Tree Gully Trophy were Di Jowett and Robyn Millet (Nett 152). R/Up Gross duo was Helen Constable with Alison Hoy, and the R/Up Nett duo was Jenny Park with Jin Lim. Congrats to you all.
And then the rain arrived! – our 1st Mixed Grade Draw for the season was disappointingly washed out. We have another scheduled later in the year but feel free to mix it up whenever you want! It’s great to see so many of our lady members mixing up their playing groups and enjoying each other’s company.
And staying with the Rain theme. Well done to all the ladies who endured the never-ending drizzle on our 6th Stroke P & C round. Despite the rainy forecast, we managed to the get the necessary comp player numbers, most of whom endured the dreary damp conditions. Our standout player of the day, who excelled in the conditions was:
Silver Spoon winner – Anne Ward, with an impressive Nett 69 (Gross 87). Anne was awarded an elegant Silver Spoon to match her elegant golf performance. Anne made an impressive acceptance speech, during which she secured a partner for the upcoming Charity Day, from the gathering of our Men’s pennant squad who were in the club house celebrating their 2023 season – Well done Anne!
Our Best Nett Grade Winners who will have the $40 – Rod Webb sponsored prize paid into their wallet accounts were:
A Grade – Leanne McVey (Who was also the Gross winner for the day)
B Grade – Bev Doherty, who has become our B Grade Stroke expert winning for the 3rd time, Go Bev.
C Grade – Lorraine Rochelle – continuing her good form from the Club Champs.
9 Hole winner – Di Banfield
COMING UP – If you haven’t done so already, grab your partner for our 4BBB Stableford comp on Thursday June 15th. The entry sheet and all the relevant information for the linked GolfWA 4BBB Challenge is up in the Ladies Locker room. Pre-match payment of an extra $7.00 each, gives you the chance to represent MGGC at the State Final. Otherwise, simply pay your normal $10 comp fee on the day.
June 22nd – Rod Webb’s Sponsor’s Day – Best Par Score – Some good monetary prizes to be won as we find out who are our best “Par Players?” Book in as per usual and pay your normal comp fee. Rod Webb will be attending to present some extra Prizes to our “Par” game champs. We have listened to you all and it will NOT be a shot gun start, but we will ask that everyone makes a special effort to stay back for Presentations to acknowledge and thank Rod for his generous sponsorship. And there will be a 9 Hole “Best Par Player”, who we will ask to stay (or come back) for Presentations.
MIXED CHARITY DAY – Tuesday June 27th. I’m sure you have seen the flyers for our first big fundraising event for 2023. This is a 12.30 shot gun start on the Tuesday afternoon, but we will still have a morning Par competition for our Lady members. Tee times will be a little earlier to accommodate the afternoon event.
PLAYING PARTNERS WANTED – a few of our Men members have asked if any lady members are available to play the Mixed Charity Day. If you are interested, please give me a call. It should be a fun “one club” day, supporting a very good cause.
We finish June off with a relaxed Stableford game, which will be the 3rd qualifying Oska Pulse round.
And finally, I want to throw my support behind Dane and his crew, as explained by Sue Q in her recent Blog. We have an outstanding course with the luxury of many playing options and will accommodate Dane and his crew wherever and whenever we can.
Cheers everyone and keep your wet weather gear handy.
