Members please note the below changes to the Lift, Clean and Place local rule. Hopefully it will ease some of the confusion being experienced at the moment. The updated rule will be in effect from Saturday 22nd July.
A ball lying ONLY on the Fairway, may be lifted without penalty and cleaned. Before lifting the ball, the player MUST mark its position.
The ball MAY be replaced within a handspan, no closer to the hole once cleaned.
A player may place their ball only once, and it is in play when it has been placed.
If the player fails to mark the position of the ball before lifting it, moves the ball-marker prior to putting the ball back into play or moves the ball in any other manner, such as rolling it with a club, a penalty of one stroke is incurred.
