36 HOLE MEMBERS’ TROPHY – Stableford – Gold Letter Event

With 26 entries, this competition was played in perfect sunny conditions on Thurs Sept 7th and from the happy albeit slightly exhausted faces, they all thoroughly enjoyed the day and will be lining up for next year. And of course, those who enjoyed it the most were the winners and so here they are.  Congratulations to:

1st place – Shirley van der Brugghen – (73 points) $80 Members’ Trophy voucher and name up in Gold Letters.  Shirley also won the Gross award – adding a $10 Pro Shop prize. Shirley played 2 quality rounds.

R/up – Di Jowett – (72 points with an outstanding 44 afternoon round) – $50 Prize Voucher.

3rd place – Anne Hitchen – (72 points) – $40 Wallet prize.

4th place – Helen Constable – (68 points) – $30 Wallet prize.

5th place – Vicky Taylor (65 points) – $20 Pro Shop prize

The final 2 awards for best AM and PM scores went to Jin Lim and Marnie Pillai respectively.  They each won a $20 pro shop prize.

Sincere congratulations to everyone who took on the 36-hole challenge and survived!

Our Mixed Grade draw is this Tuesday 12th, and we will be playing in 3’s.  Could everyone please check their booking on Monday night to make sure you have a group of 3.  If necessary, ignore the grading and move to a suitable tee spot so we can all hopefully enjoy a party of 3, with the field moving smoothly.

We are up to 12 pairs for the 4BBB Matchplay to commence on Sept 19th, so another 4 pairs would be perfect.    Will only run for 4 weeks, so looking at a final on October 10th.  Entries close this Tuesday when we will sort the Draw.  If you need more info, please just scroll down to view the 4BBB Blog.

Our annual Breast Cancer Stableford competition is scheduled for Thursday Sept 21st.  It is a low-key affair this year as we focus on our main Prostate Cancer charity.  We therefore are only suggesting a gold coin donation (or more) to our collection plate in the Pro Shop, as you book in on the day.  Invited friends can play in this comp for the $10 comp fee/donation if they have a golf link number/handicap. (We will have some pink ribbons/balloons for all those donating).  Please wear something pink (not the outfit you wore to the Barbie movie!) to give the day a fun atmosphere.  And we would love you all to stay for presentations. All funds raised will be forwarded to The Breast Cancer Institute of Australia.

DLM Trophy Shot Gun Stableford – September 28th.  Oska Pulse Presentation.

And to bring September to a close, we have our special DLM day where we can acknowledge and appreciate our incredible Susie Q, before she departs on a much-deserved holiday to Spain.  We all know what SQ means to our club so let’s make this day special.   In addition to Sue’s sponsored Prize, Shirley Hawker will be in attendance to announce and present the very lucky 2023 Oska Pulse champion with their new machine!

Jubilee Foursomes State Playoff – Thanks to Helen Constable and Mary St Peters for representing MGGC on September 5th.  Finishing mid field, they had to scramble hard for their respectable 31 stableford points.  They described a great day, with lovely playing partners from Esperance, being lucky with the weather and a fabulous grazing lunch at Rockingham Golf Course.

And lastly………Here’s hoping the sunny September weather continues as Dane and his crew commence phase two of our Green’s Replacement program.  Keep checking the web site for updates on course/handicap news and continue to appreciate our sensational golf course environment despite a few challenging renovations!

And due to this work, our Ladies Winter Eclectic will conclude on September 14th.

Cheers everyone
