Time to forget about your handicap, classy golf shots and good scores, because it’s time for our NOVELTY GOLF DAY. With temporary and cored green’s, it will be fun in the wild!
Here’s the Novelty Day plan for this year.
Game Format – Nett 4 Ball Ambrose (Stroke). All 4 players can play every shot. Must use a minimum of 3 Drives each. Can score on a card or MiScore app – both will be set up with your team handicap. Only need 1 score card/app score per team.
13 Holes to be played – We will be playing the usual 12 holes however, as the 8th hole should still be played as 8A and 8B, that brings the total number of holes to 13. Holes to be played are 1,2 head stage left to 6, 7, 8A, 8B, 9, 10, 11 then head stage left to 15, 16, 17 & 18.
Play off the Men’s Blue Tees – and here’s the real Novelty challenge. Everyone must tee off from the Men’s Blue Tees (will still be using our Red Tee handicaps) but the change of Tee off scenery, angles and length will add another novel element.
Competition is for 9 and 18 hole members, and we would love to see as many groups as possible take this opportunity to mix up their groups.
No Dress up required but wearing team colours or the like is perfectly ok.
Longest Drive with an old fashioned “Wood”. Waiting for you all at the Hole number 1, will be a couple of truly “Wooden” Drivers for you all to tee off with. The longest drive to win a prize. (If the Drivers fall apart before all players have tee’d off then you can “Drive” with your own 8 or 9 iron only).
Nearest the pins on holes 8B, 9 and 17.
Nearest Drive to the Squiggly line on Hole 18 – and yes you get to use your own driver!
$5 Entry Fee to be paid to Pro-shop on the day – Wallet/Pro Shop Prizes for winning group to be paid from the available prize pool.
Booking sheet will open the usual 8 days prior – so book in with your group of 4 or simply pop your name in a tee spot and some playing partners will join you. H/cap system can accommodate groups of 3 if need be.
So, join in the fun, mix up your groups and enjoy the stress free game of Ambrose. Only need to use your teams’ best shots, thus avoiding bunkers, the rough and unrepaired divots! With only a $5 entry fees, the winning purse will be limited but it’s all about the glory of being in the winning team. Golf is usually a lonely affair but this one is all about team spirit, team tactics and as per usual, LOTS OF GOLFING LUCK!
So, print off a copy of this notice so you will have all the information on hand to refer to on the day.
I will try to remember to leave a few copies in the Pro Shop for those who forget.
