The dreaded ‘pace of play’ reminder, look we all know how it affects our golf; we all know how frustrating it is, and we are always quick to complain and take it out on the closest group. However, we need to understand as a club, it’s a collective effort, it’s holding players accountable for getting to their tee times at an appropriate manner, it’s not thinking your time is more important than others and it’s being more attentive, courteous and most importantly aware on course.
So, this is a timely reminder about the Rules of Ready Golf
- Get to the tee 12 minutes before your tee time and be ready to go!
- “Ready golf”. Take turns teeing off first and record your score while someone else in the group is teeing off. Ready golf continues for all fairway shots – it’s great to stroll and chat whilst walking to your balls, but only if you are heading in the same direction. Please move directly to your ball and be ready to swing.
- “Putt out” on the greens, moving to the next hole as others are putting out and preparing to move or prepare on the next tee box.
Your place in the field is directly behind the group in front and not ahead of the group behind so please always look forwards when assessing your groups pace of play. If you have lost sight, please make every effort to close the gap and remember your ready golf principles.
We can handle a bad round here and there but what frustrates people on the golf course the most is slow play. Please do your bit to contribute to the enjoyment of a round of golf!
In conjunction with marshaling, ‘Pro Shop’ monitoring tee times and the use of the MiScore ‘average round times’ during competition, we will make sure that there is a positive change in this area at the club.
